Elemental Stamping

April 6, 2022      Leave a Comment

“Elemental Stamping” is the art of taking individual elements and putting them together to create your own works of art.  Use each of our elements to create your own unique “whole” image (wreaths, borders, cornerettes, scenes, etc).
The Elemental Doodles images are all perfect for Elemental Stamping.  Many of the images offered by ED are parts of a whole image that can be stamped in different colors to create the picture desired.  For example, the Chocoholic set has all the parts to create the choolate dipped berries and cherries.  And by using clear acrylic rods and blocks one is able to see exactly where to stamp.  By using various colors of ink pads to stamp your images there really is no need for coloring at all (unless you just want to add more depth).
In addition to the above mentioned type of “Elemental Stamping”, each stamp set has mini images (1″ or less) either included on the sheet or will have a separate 2″x2″ matching set available.  These images are absolutely perfect for creating backgrounds, cornerettes, borders, wreaths, etc.  Use the acrylic rods to stamp these images.  Being that the acrylic rods are clear and very easy to see through along with the clear stamps it is very easy to create the image you desire.

NOEL stamped using individual images and colored ink pads. Submitted

Simple Wreath

  1. Using a template of your choice (oval, round, square, rectangle, etc), lightly trace the shape onto your cardstock with pencil.
  2. Even though the pencil marking is very light, it may still show through your design.  In order to mask this pencil line you can take a sponge tip dauber and a pale shade of ink that will compliment your design and just sponge around the template line.  You can also use other coloring mediums as desired (ex.  Chalks, Watercolor Crayons. Pencils, etc).
  3. Begin by selecting a theme and stamps to go along with that theme (you will want 1 focal image for the center of your template, 1-2 main images for your “wreath”, 2-3 accent images for your “wreath).
  4. Stick the first main wreath image onto the appropriate sized acrylic rod or block.  Stamp it in the color desired randomly around the border leaving space in between images so that you have room fo rthe accent images (4-6 times around the template border will be fine).
  5. Remove and clean stamp.
  6. Stick the 2nd main wreath image onto the appropriate sized acrylic rod (if you are using more than one main wreath image) and stamp alongside a couple of the first main image stamps.
  7. Remove and clean stamp.
  8. Stick any component stamps that go with your main images to the appropriate sized acrylic rods or blocks and stamp them where they need to be  (ex.  leaves for the berries, fill in accent image for the berries, etc).
  9. Remove and clean stamps.
  10. Now use the accent/designer images in the same way only as “fillers” for the space left in between your main images.
  11. Remove and clean stamps.
  12. Stamp your main focal image in the center of the template and color as desired.
  13. Add accents such as glitter, Stickles, eyelets, brads, etc.

***NOTES***

  • While making your “wreath” turn the acrylic rod slightly clockwise before each impression so that the image is facing a different direction each time it is stamped.  This will give your project a bit more depth and character.
  • Stamp the image a couple of times before re-inking.  This will give your image different shades of the same color which will also add more character and depth.
  • There is no right or wrong way to go about Elemental Stamping…….JUST HAVE FUN!!!!!
Each of these images were submitted to us by our Founding Design Team Members when we first started out.
